IceBear: Research Data Management
for Structural Biology

IceBear for Principal Investigators

IceBear aims to make your scientists' lives easier, but also gives you useful tools.

Research Data Management

Increasingly, funding bodies require a Research Data Management plan as part of the application. IceBear aims to meet all your RDM requirements by, for example:

Open Access

At the end of a project, the funding body may require you to make the data public. With its flexible access rights and project archiving, IceBear makes this simple.

Nudge-based compliance

Tasks brick

The whole point of a Laboratory Information Management System like IceBear is to capture as much information about your research as possible. It may be impossible to proceed beyond a certain point without key information, for example sending a crystal to a synchrotron without a "protein acronym" safety identifier.

On the other hand, people should be do what they need to do right now, without a computer telling them that they can't. IceBear prompts your scientists to provide the important information, but will not insist until it becomes absolutely necessary.

IceBear provides a task list for each user, reminding them to take care of basic items like setting the screen conditions for their plates. This task list can also remind them to remove older plates from the imagers, enabling you to recover precious space in your plate hotels.

Resource monitoring

Disk brick

That Monday morning feeling: Everything stopped over the weekend because nobody knew the disks were full. And it'll take two days to free up enough space.

We've been there. That's why IceBear's at-a-glance overview of imager loading and disk space helps you and your core team stay ahead of your lab's needs.

You and your team can get a detailed imager inventory, showing which plates have expired, when hotel slots will become available as plates expire, etc. Zombie plate detection might help you recover hotel slots that you never knew you'd lost.

Reporting and statistics

How many plates were created in the last six months, and by whom?

We can add custom reporting to suit your needs. Contact us to discuss your requirements.
