IceBear is a research data management tool for structural biology. It currently covers crystallization trials, crystal fishing and shipping, as well as linking crystals, datasets, and PDB depositions for full chain of custody. It gives you a highly task-focused interface and a flexible access rights system. And it's FREE to download and install in your lab.
IceBear is developed in-house at Biocenter Oulu and the University of Oulu's Faculty of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine, and is designed to meet research data management requirements while making scientists' lives easier (not harder).
IceBear is browser-based, needing no software installation on your scientists' workstations. All you need is a low-cost computer to act as a server.
IceBear integrates with your automatic imaging system, if you have one, and can exchange data with synchrotrons — eliminating laborious and error-prone copying, pasting and typing. No imager? No problem; IceBear will work just fine without it.
Try the demo (username and password icebeardemo) or read more about what IceBear can do for you. If you'd like to see how IceBear works with real protein, you can apply for Instruct-ERIC access to the Biocenter Oulu crystallization facility, and follow your samples in Oulu's IceBear.
